AFF training

First Day of Skydiving Training:

The first day is dedicated to learning the basics of freefall, essential maneuvers, and canopy safety rules. You begin with a didactic tandem skydive: it’s a classic tandem jump, but you’ll be fully involved in the experience. You’ll learn to identify the landing area, manage altitude, and follow the landing circuit safely.

The theoretical courses start at 9 AM and are held regardless of the weather. Please arrive at 8:30 AM for registration and plan to stay until at least 5 PM. Punctuality is essential to avoid disrupting the training schedule. Only students who have completed their registration will be accepted to the course.

On the agenda: theoretical training, parachute operation, safety rules, emergency procedures, freefall techniques, and canopy control.

At Paraclub Namur, you’ll benefit from a well-equipped classroom and high-quality teaching materials. All our instructors are certified and experienced to ensure your safety. Moreover, all the necessary equipment is provided and thoroughly checked before each jump (school parachute, safety system, jumpsuit, helmet, goggles, altimeter, and radio equipment).

End of the First Day: THE FIRST JUMP!

At the end of the day, if the weather permits, fatigue is manageable, and the day’s schedule allows, you will make your first jump! This tandem skydive with a qualified tandem and AFF instructor will help you become familiar with the sensations of freefall and observe the landing area from the sky to identify the landing zone. Be sure to come with comfortable clothing and sports shoes!

This jump, called the "didactic tandem," is mandatory, even if you have already done a tandem jump. It provides new knowledge and specific objectives to achieve. The didactic tandem must be completed within two months of the theoretical course; beyond this period, you will need to retake the theoretical course to continue your training.

Levels 2 to 7: The Adventure Continues!

From the second jump onward, you wear your own parachute (thoroughly checked by the instructors) and take control! You deploy your parachute at approximately 1500 meters, always under the supervision of your instructors. Once deployed, your instructors will open their own parachutes, and it’s up to you to apply the techniques learned to return to the landing area and land safely!

As you progress, you will refine your movements in freefall, initially assisted by two instructors (levels 2 to 4), then by one (levels 5 to 7). Gradually, they will release you, allowing you to truly fly solo. You’ll learn to perform turns, flips, and vertical and horizontal movements. You’ll even start to understand how birds feel!

After each jump, a debriefing is held: your impressions are discussed, and your jump is analyzed to improve your future performances.

Organization of Jump Slots for Continued Training

During the theoretical course, you’ll have the opportunity to join a dedicated WhatsApp group for AFF students. At the beginning of the week (usually Monday), we post a link to a doodle in the group where you can indicate your availability for the weekend. The final schedule is then shared on Tuesday or Wednesday, taking into account everyone’s availability, progress, and the number of instructors present.

During peak season, days are split into two slots: from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM and from 2:00 PM until sunset. On Fridays, there’s only one slot from 4:00 PM to sunset. Starting in late October (with the time change), days are continuous, from 8:30 AM until sunset, maximizing your progression while accommodating everyone’s schedules.
